Dubjack - Trebol Series 1 [grv10-01]

There is this great netlabel which I somehow missed to introduce to you. But anyhow - great music is still there to be discovered, so go there right now and check out Groovear. It's some of the greatest dub stuff available for free. They seem to transfer the established system of 12-/10-/7-inches onto the net with their creation of different series. This release here is only one representative of all the wonderful music you'll find there. It's deep, it's dubby, it's real - no cheap shit. (And a wonderful website, by the way...)

Stalker - The Unsecret Stories of Lady M. [1bit012]

It would be strange to comment my own release - so see the official label text below for more info...

As co-founder Mirsch was responsible for 1bit 001, the circle of our first year closes with the debut EP by the other half of 1bit: After Stalker's much appreciated contribution to the compilation on 1bit 006 ("Introducing Savya"), many of you will be happy to hear more of his deep minimal stuff. It's a very personal release, not necessarily made for dancing but definitely something for your heart and brain. And for those of you who prefer lounge sounds with a whiff of pop, Kultobjekt's remix of "Introducing Savya" might be exactly your cup of tea...

Schubert - Don't Believe The Chord-Pop Hype [instabil09]

Another excellent release on Instabil - and again, it's produced by label owner Daniel Stefanik. These two tracks here accompain a vinyl release on Statik Entertainment running the same title. Both works stand out thanks to their unique atmosphere - definitely deeply rooted in dub, reminiscent of the legendary Basic Channel. Track one might furthermore remind you of Sleeparchive because of its signal sequence while the second one starts with a bassline recalling the high times of Maurizio - but still, how ever evident these references might be, "Don't Believe The Chord-Pop Hype" never slips down to just copying its spring of inspiration.

Pinkler & Reche - Bruma EP [nm001]

Usually, I'm not into ambient at all. But this one convinced me to make an exception: Natural Media is a new netlabel hailing from Argentina. They start with a four-tracker in a glitchy dark atmosphere, sounding very appealing to me. All four tracks seem to be a different episode on a journey to a rainy, mysterious place. So get your mental movie projector ready - and press play...

“Bruma” is a four tracks e.p. from two Argentinian sound artists, Ismael Pinkler and Pablo Reche.
Click textures, subtle click patterns and deep chord clusters plus a photo gallery are only few guides to this high quality and unmissed glitch-ambient work from Argentina.

Mr. Incognito - Secret Melodies [phoke33]

It's nice to know that only 100km away there's somebody sharing your vision and releasing good music for free as well. That's why I just have to promote Phonocake here - a great netlabel from Dresden. Release No. 33 comes with 12 (!) pieces of electronica from Mr. Incognito - dreamy synthscapes covering weird beats with excursions to Acid ("Vloc Delto"), Upbeat ("Tiapolis") or Disco ("Polyfour"). Sometimes his melodies are a bit overegging the pudding ("Version8orgel"), but most of the time the perfectly complement one another with perfectly programmed broken beats. Be sure to check this!

Igor O. Vlasov - Sound Textures [dbdf013]

This man is unbelievable: Although having slowed down his output frequency, Igor is still delivering at least one netaudio release a month (probably trying to set some kind of record). But I'm glad he's not flooding the users with his stuff anymore like he used to do - and one could say this results in a higher quality as well (althought it's always the different A&Rs selecting the tracks). I especially like this release here because it shows the deeper side of Igor again - just as his 1bit release did. All four cuts are slowly developing hypnotic tracks carrying Igor's trademark sound design. However, this work here seems somewhat more special to me than the mass of his other releases he did lately...

We have another four doses of deep textured grooviness from Igor O. Vlasov. From the dancefloor-ready "Glocke 1 2 3" and "Stadtverkehr", to the relaxing washes of "Installer", to the hypnotic dubbiness of "Stone of Fortune", there's something here for many an occasion or mood. This release is another example of Igor's expertise in the art of knob-twiddling.

Trondheim - Der erste Widersacher und sein Untergang [id14]

In my mind, I've always connected Interdisco with the vinyl label Dial somehow. Probably because of their preferences for melancholic minimal music. It holds true for this one as well - Trondheim uses strong piano melodies to make you feel... extremely melancholic ("Tanztee" - YEEESSS!). His sound design is not overwhelming - it's low-key, but fitting. Some guitar sounds, some beats and rim shots, some digital noises. But it all fits together so well that I'm once more astonished how Interdisco finds its artists - they seem to fit nowhere else but there (interestingly enough, I've got the same feeling with Dial as well ;) ). The only sad point: It's four tracks only...

Desolation Wilderness - Particle Death Song [ms012n]

This release will not be the one you would consider the Holy Grail of electronica as it is pretty minimal in its sound setup and some of the synths chosen are absolutely not my cup of tea. But still, Desolation Wilderness succeeds in creating a unique atmosphere using cold digital sounds and heavy synth lines. It reminds me of Scandinavia or Canada. And that's why I like it. =)

particle death song marks a return to the long-form electronica that desolation wilderness is making his name on, creating icy soundscapes with an emotional edge. the album consists of six tracks, ranging from four to six minutes each, and covering the sort of electronica that minimal music is known for. warm synths underline each track while deep bass bounces around underneath light, skittering percussion. full of space, each of the tracks draws the listener in with a short, inviting prelude before rocketing out into the outer realms of rhythm and sound. this is an album that will sound great on a loud system.

Anonym - Run EP [arch014]

I hope you don't allege that I'm secretly promoting Archipel with my site here. It's just a matter of fact that I'm absolutely diggin' every new release from them. This one here comes from Anonym - the same artist the label started with a year ago. He opens with a hypnotic bassline mover ("Retrogram") which is cool, but not really mindblowing to me. It's these other tracks that I love: Hypnotizing minimal as well, they show a sound universe full of rich textures and tightly sitting bassdrums. Not necessarily dancefloor bombs but certainly cool club tracks for the more special moments...
